Views on nuclear weapons:

Michael Matheson is drafted a bill to outlaw Weapons of Mass Destruction in Scotland.

Replied to survey in November 2006saying he was opposed to the upgarding or replacing of Trident and said " Nuclear weapons are both illegal and immoral. They are opposed by the majority of Scots. and at a time when their is a need to invest in our schools and hospitals, it is simply unbelieviable that this New Labour Government want to spend £76 Billion on new Nuclear weapons"

Replied to survey in June 2005 saying he was opposed to Trident replacement and said "At a time of global instability caused by the illegal war in Iraq, with public services such as our schools and hospitals coming under increasing financial pressure, there can be no justification for wasting public money on a new Trident system"
