Peace Walk - Rosie Kane - June 2006

| That the Parliament congratulates Scotland’s for Peace which has organised Scotland’s Long Walk For Peace which will start at Faslane Naval Base on Thursday 14 September 2006, passing through Dumbarton, Clydebank, Glasgow, Coatbridge, Airdrie, Bathgate, Livingston and South Edinburgh, and end at the Parliament on Tuesday 19 September; recognises that Scotland’s Long Walk for Peace is supported by Edinburgh Peace and Justice Centre, Edinburgh Campaign Against the Arms Trade (CAAT), the Iona Community, the Northern Peace Board, Nuclear Free Local Authorities (Scotland), Scottish CND, the Church and Society Council of the Church of Scotland, the Scottish Centre for Non-violence, the Scottish Human Rights Centre, the Parliament’s Cross Party Group on Nuclear Disarmament, the Scottish Quaker General Meeting, the STUC, Trident Ploughshares, the United Nations Association Scotland and UNISON Scotland, and notes that the aim of the walk is to urge the Parliament to speak out against replacing Trident and to work towards an end to all weapons of mass destruction. |
