On 14 March 2007 voted against the Government motion which called for the renewal of Trident. Speech Replied to survey in November 2006 saying he was opposed to the upgrading or replacing of Trident and said "A decision to replace Trident would undermine our support for the nuclear non proliferation treaty and make the world a more dangerous place by encouraging other countries to develop nuclear weapons" Response to survey June 2005 - "Replacing Trident will weaken our contribution to avoiding the proliferation of nuclear weapons in the world and will damage our contribution to discussions on the future of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty" - |
