Views on nuclear weapons:

On 14 March 2007 voted against the Government motion which called for the renewal of Trident

Told Scotland's for Peace on 21 February 2007 - "I will be voting against the replacement of Trident. "

Replied to survey in November 2006 saying he is not decided to opposed the upgrading or replacing of Trident and said

"Having called for the debate, it seems to me that I cannot then come to a conclusion without having heard the terms of that debate, or indeed consulted with my constituents on the matter. I can assure you that I do intend to consult widely with my constituents on the issue, and will certainly take strong account of the views expressed by the supporters of your letter of 13th November"

Supported EDM 2703 calling for a debate before a decison is made on Trident Replacement and EDMs 1113 and 1197 calling for a debate.
