Views on nuclear weapons:

On 14 March 2007 voted for the Government motion which called for the renewal of Trident

As former Armed Forces Minister he is likely to argue that Trident should be replaced/upgraded.

Replied to survey in November 2006 asking if he was opposed to the upgrading or replacing of Trident, as, not decided " As you know, the Government is to issue a White Paper setting out the arguments on the issue. I intend to make my respones on the basis of the case made in the White Paper. I appreciate that you and your co-signatories have made up your mind. I am prepared to weigh up the arguments at the appropriate time"

Likely to support the replacement of Trident
