Views on nuclear weapons:

On 14 March 2007 voted against the Government motion which called for the renewal of Trident

Supported EDM 1197 calling for a debate on Trident Replacement

Told the Press and Journal -
"All my political life I have been opposed to nuclear weapons and I do not see any reason to change that now. I welcome the opportunity to debate this fully and the fact that we have a vote in March but that does not alter my fundemental view that I am opposed to them and, as things stand, I will vote against a renewal of the British nuclear deterrent."
