Voted against motion, ie to stop the Parliament from opposing the renewal of Trident
Views on nuclear weapons:
Replied to survey in November 2006 saying "I am in favour of the United Kingdom having Nuclear detterrent. We cannot un-invent nuclear weapons and have a situation whereby these weapons are falling into hands of nations who have a potential to destablilise world peace. The fact that nuclear weapons are distasteful cannot be denied but the fact that they have been a successful deterrent to war is equally undeniable."
Trident Debate 21 December 2006:

Voted against an SNP motion and a Lib Dem amendment. Both called on the UK Government not to go ahead at this time with the proposal to replace Trident. Speech
