Replied to a letter from Scotland's for Peace saying he would vote for the replacement of Trident -
"With water, food and other essential mineral and industrial resources set to become increasingly scarce in the coming decades, against a backdrop of increasing populations and shifting geo-political power from "west" to "east", the need for a numerically small country like Britain to ensure its population is protected and its access to essential food and other resources maintained, I believe the submarine-based nuclear deterrent to be essential to the security and welfare of UK citizens and those dependent on the UK as a force for fairness and decency on the world stage".
