Replied to a letter from Scotland's for Peace saying that he would vote against the replacement of Trident
"I have always been of the view that nuclear weapons of any kind have no place in the 21st century and I will work to remove them from Scottish soil
"Nuclear weapons are an obscenity and a moral outrage in our society. Trident replacement will cost in excess of £100 billion - money that could be spent on health care, pensions and education. These weapons cannot be used and the UK government has lost the opportunity to set a good example to other nations of the world by leading the reduction of the nuclear weapons arsenals worldwide. .
